Roger Gaillard est président du Calcre pendant vingt ans, de 1985 à 2004, à titre bénévole. Créé en février 1979 à Vitry (région parisienne) sous l’appellation originelle de "Comité des auteurs en lutte contre le racket de l’édition", le Calcre élargit ses objectifs en 1988 en devenant l’Association d’information et de défense des auteurs. Roger Gaillard est aussi le directeur de publication du magazine imprimé Ecrire&Editer (E&E), publié par le Calcre entre janvier 1996 et mars 2004 (sous la houlette de Marc Autret, son rédacteur en chef). Il est l’auteur d’ARLIT & Cie (Annuaire des revues littéraires et Compagnie), dont la dernière édition date de 2003. Roger Gaillard est enfin l’auteur d’AUDACE (Annuaire à l’usage des auteurs cherchant un éditeur), publié à partir de 1986, avec une nouvelle version tous les trois ou quatre ans, et qui devient rapidement une "bible" respectée de toute la profession. Après vingt-cinq ans d’activité (1979-2004), le Calcre disparaît des suites d’un procès initié par un ancien salarié. AUDACE est désormais publié par L’Oie plate (Observatoire indépendant de l’édition pour les auteurs très exigeants). La nouvelle édition d’AUDACE date de 2005. -
